A square table is an attractive design that is easy to make. It doesn't require as much measuring and cutting as a round or octagonal table. I would also suggest you get a set of plans that cover a variety of projects instead of just one plan for a specific table. It works out to be much less expensive to purchase plans this way. Also, if your wife decides she wants something different, you'll already have the plans available for it. If you can find a set that has more than just picnic tables, you'll be able to use them for just about any project you can think of. And just think, if you get good enough at woodworking, you might be able to start your own business on the side!
